Nancy J. Allen

scan0018Nancy J. Allen, 72, of Distant, died suddenly on Friday evening, October 7, 2016 at the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning.

Born on March 15, 1944 in Deanville, she was a daughter of the late Harris B. and Phyllis A. (Shindledecker) George. She was married on May 23, 1964, to James N. Allen.

Nancy was a homemaker, a beautician, and a secretary for James N. Allen Inc. trucking company. She was an active member of the Oakland Church of God in Distant where she helped with funeral dinners, taught Sunday School, helped with the church Card Ministry, and helped with the “Know Your Neighbor” pads.

She is survived by her husband of over 51 years, James N. Allen of Distant, a daughter, Lisa A. Brumbaugh and her husband, Jeff of Kittanning, a son, Brian N. Allen and his wife, Julie of Rural Valley, four grandchildren, Jessica S. Crissman and her husband Tyler, Matthew J. Brumbaugh, Joshua N. Allen and Jacob N. Allen, a brother, Robert George and his wife, Nancy of Deanville, three sisters, Agatha Hill and her husband, Frank of Mission Viejo, California, Frances George of Santa Ynez, California, and Bonnie Pence and her husband, Ernie of Distant, and a brother-in-law, William “Bill” Raybuck of Fairmount City.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Joanne L. Raybuck.

Visitation will be on Monday, October 10, from 6 – 9 and on Tuesday, October 11, from 10 to 12:00  noon at the Oakland Church of God in Distant. The funeral will be on Tuesday at the church at 12:00 noon, with Pastor Jimmy Swogger officiating. Interment will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Distant.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations may be made in memory of Nancy, to the Oakland Church of God, 122 Kohlersburg Road, Distant, Pa. 16223.

The Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn is handling the arrangements.
