Nancy Sheesley

Nancy Sheesley, 74, Punxsutawney passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

Born Feb. 28, 1941, in Sykesville, she was a daughter of the late Larry DeJohn Sr. and Jean (Cowan) DeJohn. Her mother survives and resides in DuBois.

Nancy had previously worked at A&P grocery store and Open Pantry before moving to Fairfax, Va., where she worked and eventually retired from Home Depot.

She liked dancing and enjoyed watching Dancing with the Stars. Nascar was another favorite pastime, as she was a Powder Puff driver in her earlier years.

In life, she had so many struggles that she never could quite handle. By the grace of God she was given a true blessing and miracle by the look of contentment on her face before she breathed her last breath.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Andrew Lott Sheesley; three daughters: Deborah Frantz and Tim Swartz of Troutville, Linda Hoover and Victoria Beitia of DuBois, and Sheree Hillebrand of Troutville; three grandchildren: Rick Frantz and wife Jessica, April Roy and husband Steve, and Derek Hillebrand; two great grandchildren, Autumn Roy and Rocco Lane Frantz; three brothers: Robert DeJohn and wife, Violet, of Sykesville, Gary DeJohn and wife, Rosie, of DuBois, and Larry DeJohn Jr. and wife Rosemary of Reynoldsville.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry DeJohn Sr. and infant brother, Larry DeJohn.

At Nancy’s request there will be no visitation.

Funeral arrangements are private and under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Punxsutawney.

Her ashes will be interred at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Sheesley’s memory to the Liver Foundation.
