Naomi Jeanne Avery

Naomi Jeanne Avery, age 80, of 36 Kinley Dr., Ridgway, died Tuesday evening, May 24, 2022, at Penn Highlands DuBois.

She was born March 15, 1942, in Brandy Camp, PA, daughter of the late Horace R. and Florence L. (Hutchins) Fields.

She married Max G. Avery in the Brandy Camp Methodist Church on January 28, 1961, he survives.

She resided in Ridgway for many years and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

She attended Ridgway Area High School.

She was active with the Good Samaritan Food Bank in Ridgway for 36 years.

She also drove I-U9 vans for 20 years picking up and delivering numerous children to school and back home.

She enjoyed hunting and fishing with her father.

You could usually find her cooking, crocheting blankets, and knitting doilies at the kitchen table in her spare time.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by her husband Max G. Avery of Ridgway, 2 sons Craig L. & Stephanie (Felix) Avery of Falls Creek, PA and Eric G. Avery and Ann (Solic) Avery of St. Marys, PA, 4 grandchildren Nathan, Kristin, Rebecca, and Matthew Avery, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers Wallace, Horace A. and Wayne Fields, and 3 sisters Virginia Tucker, Yvonne Meyer, and Claudine Anderson.

A Memorial Service for Naomi Jeanne Avery will be held at the convenience of the family.

Officiating will be Rev. Erik Hart, Pastor of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Burial will be at Oakmont Cemetery.

There will be no public visitation per her wishes.

Memorials, if desired, can be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Good Samaritan Food Bank in Ridgway, or to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.
