Neighbor Accused of Assaulting 8-year-old Boy with Belt in Jefferson County

UNION TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police are currently investigating a report of an assault on an 8-year-old boy that allegedly occurred over the weekend in Union Township, Jefferson County.

Around 1:11 a.m. on Sunday, July 14, Punxsutawney-based State Police were dispatched to a residence on Tyler Drive in Union Township, Jefferson County, to speak with an individual about a child being physically disciplined by a neighbor.

Police say troopers spoke with the individual who indicated that a child she has guardianship of was at a neighbor’s residence being watched with another child when both children were physically disciplined with a cloth belt between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13.

According to police, the suspect was interviewed and evidence was photographed at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
