According to a criminal complaint, around 6:44 p.m. on December 3, Trooper Gould, of the DuBois-based State Police, was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash on Reynoldsville Falls Creek Road, Winslow Township, Jefferson County.

Upon his arrival, Trooper Gould observed a white Subaru Forester parked along the west berm of the roadway at a slight angle with no hazard lights on. As he approached the vehicle, the driver, identified as Michael Robert Wright Jr., came around from the side of the vehicle to the rear of the vehicle.

According to the complaint, Trooper Gould immediately noted a strong odor of alcohol on Wright, who was yelling about his medical marijuana card. The complaint notes Wright’s appearance was “very disheveled” and states a metal grinder was located within Wright’s vehicle.

Wright was then administered a portable breath test which yielded a result of 0.190. The complaint notes field sobriety testing was not conducted at the scene due to Wright’s “erratic behavior.” He was transported to Penn Highlands Emergency room, where he consented to a legal blood draw.

According to the complaint, when the phlebotomist arrived for the blood draw, Wright said he needed to use the bathroom and was told the blood draw was first. Wright then allegedly unzipped his pants and began to urinate on the floor.

Wright was then transported to the DuBois-based State Police barracks. While there, he was found in possession of medical marijuana and cigarettes, and was allegedly attempting to smoke and ingest.

The complaint notes Wright refused to release the cigarettes and marijuana to police and a struggle then ensued.

Wright was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 11:45 a.m. on December 4.

He is currently free on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. on January 28, with Judge Inzana presiding.
