Smith NormanNorman R. Smith, 96, 118 Water St., Reynoldsville, died Monday morning, June 30, 2015, at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.

Born Oct. 28, 1917, in Reynoldsville, he was a son of the late Edward P. and Cora Snyder Smith. On June 2, 1947, he married Dorthy J. Spears Smith. She preceded him in death May 24, 2011.

Norman was a 1935 graduate of Reynoldsville High School.

Before retirement, he was the owner/operator of Norm’s Quaker State Gas Station in Reynoldsville for more than 30 years.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Private First Class with the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Reynoldsville.

Norman was the oldest living Past Master and member of of John M. Read Lodge F&AM, Coudersport Consistory, B.P.O. Elks, F.O.Eagles and American Legion Post #392.

He is survived by two sons, Gary L. Smith (Cindy) of Reynoldsville and Michael K. Smith of Richmond, Va.; one daughter, Cynthia L. McKinney of Quinton, Va.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Almeda Shields and Jean Daugherty, both of Erie, and Phoebe Acker (David) of Palmetto, Fla. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Ann Charlton; two great-granddaughters; five brothers: Kenneth, Edgar, Marshall, Arden and Gilbert Smith; and two sisters, Pauline Neale and Margaret Swab.

Friends will be received from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015, at the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home in Reynoldsville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reynoldsville with the Rev James Steingass officiating.

Burial will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville. The John M. Read Lodge F&AM will conduct services at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

The Jefferson County Honor Guard will conduct military honors Friday.
