One Injured in Three-Vehicle Collision on Route 255

JAY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say a three-vehicle accident occurred March 8 around 3:00 p.m. on State Route 255 in Jay Township, Elk County.

According to police, the crash occurred as Edward S. Clark, 48, of Weedville, was traveling south on SR 255 (Bennett’s Valley Highway).

Police say Clark slowed his 1995 Ford Mustang to make a right turn on Elm Street.

Stephen J. Hasselman, 52, of Saint Marys, was traveling behind Clark on SR 255 and failed to see Clark slowing down, according to police.

Police say Hasselman’s 2011 Ford F150 struck the rear of Clark’s Mustang.

Clark’s vehicle spun clockwise after impact and came to a rest on Elm Street, facing north.

Hasselman swerved into the northbound lane of SR255 following impact. He then struck the front passenger side of 2010 Equinox driven by Bernard Kanski, 83, of Johnsonburg, according to police.

Kanski was traveling northbound on SR 255 at the time of the crash.

Both Hassleman and Kanski were wearing seat belts and escaped injury in the collision.

Kanski’s passenger Ethel M. Kanski, 81, of Johnsonburg, was also uninjured.

Clark was transported to Penn Highlands DuBois by Bennetts Valley Ambulance for treatment of moderate injury.

Hassleman was cited with a traffic violation.

PSP DuBois were assisted at the scene by the Jay Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Penfield Volunteer Fire Department.
