Pamela Marie (Astorino) Cook

Pamela Marie (Astorino) Cook, age 58, of Brookville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, with her family by her side, while in the care of Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital.

Pam was born on March 26, 1959, to the late Samuel Francis and Margaret Louise (Gill) Astorino, in Punxsutawney, PA. She graduated with the class of 1977 from Brookville High School.

The Astorino family owned and operated the Golden Dawn Grocery Store, which was located where the Heritage House currently resides, and Pam started her working life in that family business. Most recently she was employed as the office manager for Matson’s Insurance.

She was married on June 18, 1983, to Richard Charles Cook; Richard survives her.

Pam was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brookville, PA. She was very active in her children’s lives, they meant the world to her and her world was made even brighter with the addition of her granddaughter, Hadley. Pam tried to stay active in her community and she volunteered time with Little League and the Raider Round Ball Club. She had the kindest heart and demeanor of anyone. She was always offering to help in any way that she could, even until the very end. Pam loved watching football, cooking, decorating, hosting parties and holidays with her family. She fought hard for 9 years with her family and friends by her side every step of the way. She had a great group of friends including her peeps and Barb.

In addition to her husband, Pam is survived by 1 daughter; Jena M. (Jesse) Bish; 1 son; Troy R. Cook; 3 sisters; Jeanne Smith, Mary (Mike) Schuckers, Jaime (Jeff) Caylor; 1 brother; Samuel Astorino; and 1 grandchild; Hadley Marie Bish. In addition to her parents, Pam is preceded in death by 1 sister; Barb Aaron.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, November 30, 2017, from 2 – 4pm, and 6 – 8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, December 1, 2017, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 129, Graham Ave, Brookville, PA, 15825, beginning at 10:00am, and officiated by Father William Laska. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital, 100 Hospital Dr., Brookville, PA, 15825.
