Passenger Hospitalized after Crash in McCalmont Township

Police sirenMCCALMONT TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to a one-vehicle crash on Route 310 in McCalmont Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, this crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. January 11 when 26-year-old Bradley Heitzenrater was driving a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee north on Route 310.

Police say the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane of traffic and off the west side of the roadway, impacting a guide rail.

The vehicle then re-entered the roadway, crossed over both lanes of travel, and entered Shane Drive where it came to final rest.

The vehicle sustained minor damage and was towed by South Side Towing.

The driver was not injured and refused medical treatment.

The passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Alexa Heitzenrater, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Punxsutawney Hospital by Jefferson County EMS.

Both occupants were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

McCalmont Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
