Paul A. Burford

Paul A. Burford, 84, of Oak Ridge, died Friday morning March 14, 2014, at the Jefferson Manor. He was born February 2, 1930, in Climax, and was the son of Albert Roy and Florence Bell (Hetrick) Burford. He was married October 20, 1960, to Gail M. (Murray) Burford. She survives.

He worked at Pullman Standard as a crane operator, and also was a carpenter. He was a member of the First Church of God in New Bethlehem.

Paul served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by one son, Dana Burford and wife Patti of Templeton; one daughter, Kelly Alwine and husband Alan of Oak Ridge; four grandchildren, Seth Burford, Nicole Burford, Josh Anthony and wife Stephanie and Nathan Anthony; one sister, Kay Hepler and husband Gale of Oak Ridge; two brothers, Malcolm ”Mack” Burford and wife Dawn, and Neal Burford and wife Clydine all of Oak Ridge; and two sister-in-laws, Pat Burford of Oak Ridge and Mary Ferringer of Hawthorn.

He was preceded in death by both parents; three sisters, Ethel Horne, Alva Neiswonger, Anna Mae Evans; and four brothers, Cleo “Jock” Burford, Warren Burford, Tom Burford, and Wilmer “Bill” Burford.

Visitation will be on Monday March 17, 2014, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.  Funeral services will be held on Monday March 17, at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor John Phillips officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mahoning Twp., Armstrong County.
