Penn State Holds off Grand Canyon

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (EYT) – Lamar Stevens led four Penn State players in double digits with 19 points, as the Nittany Lions held off upset-minded Grand Canyon, 85-76, Tuesday night at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Payton Banks added 15 points for the Nittany Lions (2-1), while Shep Garner had 14 points and Tony Carr 10 points and six assists.

Joshua Bruan led all scorers with 25 points for Grand Canyon, while Darion Clark had a double-double with 12 points and 14 points. Oscar Frayer added 13 points and seven boards, Keonta Vernon had 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench and Shaq Carr had 10 points, five assists and five rebounds.

Grand Canyon (0-2) outrebounded Penn State 44-38 but the Nittany Lions shot 46.4 percent from the floor compared to 38.8 percent for the visitors.
