Police: PennDOT Truck Causes Two-Vehicle Accident on Route 36

ELDRED TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) According to Marienville-based State Police, around 2:55 p.m. on March 29, a two-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 36, in Eldred Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 26-year-old Denise R. Stevenson of Marienville and 55-year-old Ronald P. Heasley of Elizabethtown were involved in the collision.

According to police, Stevenson was traveling north on SR 36 in a 2009 Chevrolet Express and Heasley was traveling behind her in a 2012 Toyota Camry – both vehicles were behind a PennDOT truck with a brush which was cleaning the east berm.

The PennDOT truck struck a large amount of dirt causing the visibility of both operators to be affected, police say.

Stevenson slowed her vehicle due to the low visibility, and Heasley struck her vehicle from behind, according to police.

Both drivers and a passenger in Stevenson’s car – 79-year-old George V. Cole, of Marienville – were using seat belts.

No injuries were reported.

The Chevrolet Express sustained minor damage to its bumper.

The Toyota Camry sustained moderate front end damage, causing the vehicle to be towed.
