Pennsylvania Great Outdoors: Gingerbread Tour 2021

Shopping for the holidays is a lot more fun when you can mix the shopping with snack samples, wine tastings, great deals, and more.

If this sounds like your idea of a fun holiday shopping adventure, make your plans now to be part of Gingerbread Tour 2021 from November 5-7. This popular annual event started in 1971 and has grown to include lots of interesting stops for holiday shopping and dining. Visitors will find 20 miles of stores and restaurants between Brookville and Leeper all decked out for Christmas and offering specials, door prizes, product samples, refreshments, a variety of interesting treasures by local artists and crafters, and all the joy of the season.

Gingerbread Tour Shopping

1. Briar Hill Rustic Furniture has been manufacturing custom cedar log furniture for over 60 years.
2. The Nook Nacs Gift Shop is quaint gift shop attached to The Forest Nook Restaurant.
3. Cook Forest Sawmill Center for the Arts shop their bountiful craft market where more than 50 local artisans display their works.
4. Cooksburg Dry Goods Gift Shoppe is a beautiful log cabin gift shop on River Road in heart of Cook Forest.
5. Cook Forest Wines offers local wines in a soothing, riverside atmosphere.
6. Parker’s Indian Trading Post offers shoppers Minnetonka Moccasins Cook Forest items, toys, candy, and fudge.
7. Pickle Barrel invites you to enjoy the sights, the scents, and sounds of Christmas as you shop, plus the best “Pickle Punch”.
8. Evergreen Cabins & Mercantile has handmade items, wine, holiday and home décor, and gifts ideas for everyone.
9. Through the Woods stocks antiques, handcrafted primitives, soaps, candles, and aromatherapy pillows.
10. Quiet Creek Herb Farm and School of Country Living provides herb plants, teas, soaps, oil, salves, and fun holiday classes.
11. Heirloom Quilting is a haven for fabric lovers with over 9,000 bolts. You’ll see the most flannels and homespuns east of the Mississippi.
12. Blackbird Distillery makes their Moonshine by hand with no machines from start to finish. They offer smoked meats cheeses too.
13. Dan Smith’s Candies has been making chocolates for over 68 years. Customer favorites include their Peanut Butter Melt-Aways, Chocolate Covered Pretzels, Old Fashioned Holiday Mints, and Sea Salt Caramels.
14. The Open House Shop Antiques has authentic primitives, country home décor, custom-made farm tables, and Jack Daniels whiskey barrels.

Gingerbread Tour Restaurants

1. The Forest Nook offers an extensive menu consisting of appetizers, hand-tossed pizza, soups and salads, burgers, sandwiches, various dinners, and incredible homemade desserts.
2. Trails End offers everything from sandwiches, wings, and salads to prime rib and crab legs. They will be offering a soup, salad, and pretzel breadstick special during the Gingerbread Tour.
3. Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church will have soup, salad, and a sweet. You may also purchase homemade soup by the quart.
4. Tommy’s Italian Pizzeria & Pub invites you to enjoy their delicious Italian cuisine in a quaint charming atmosphere.
5. A & M Family Dining / Plyler’s Buffet & Family Restaurant is a family style restaurant under new ownership offering homestyle meals.
6. Barrel 55 BBR offers great food, bakery items, and a wide selection of spirits, craft beers, and wines.
