Phyllis Jean (Young) Moore, 87, of Brookville, PA, passed away in the morning hours of September 25, 2021, while at her home surrounded by family.
She was born on December 5, 1933 to the late John and Nellie (Byerly) Young in Ohl, PA. Phyllis attended school in Ohl.
She married Robert Lee Moore on October 5, 1968; Robert precedes her in death.
She worked hard all her life; she worked at the Brookville Glove Factory, and as a waitress, bartender, and a maid.
She retired from the Diamond J’s Truck Stop, at the Reynoldsville exit, as a cashier.
In addition, she was a full-time mother and grandmother.
Phyllis attended the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Brookville and the Reynoldsville Gospel Center.
She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She also loved to play bingo and do circle word puzzles.
Phyllis also spent her time crocheting tea towels and blankets. Above all else, she loved going to the family picnics on the hill.
Phyllis is survived by six children; Susan Gould, Betty (Karl) Deibler, Karen (Dick) Snell, Samuel (Kelly) Barnett, Sharon (George) Rapp, Robert Jr. (Heidi Miller) Moore; six stepchildren; Peg (Dick) Olson, Shirley (Joe) Holben, Garry (Cathy) Moore, Brad (Robin) Moore, Kevin (Amy Wilson) Moore, and Greg Moore; one sister; Gertrude “Joyce” Burkett; one brother; Ronald (Linda) Young; thirty grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren with one on the way; and her first great-great-grandchild on the way.
In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis is preceded in death by first husband; Samuel Barnett; two children; Laura Barnett and James Moore; three brothers; Harold Young, Ivan Young, and William Young; two sisters; Geraldine Himes and Doris Neel; and two sons-in-law; William Gould and Randy Holben.
Services will be held privately to the family and have been entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the donor’s choice.
