Phyllis Miles Cole, 88 of Mt. Dora, Florida formerly of Shannondale died Wednesday November 26, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Clarion, PA.
Born February 4, 1926, in Mayport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence E. Shick and Florence Buffington Shick.
Phyllis graduated from Hawthorne High School. She was married to Clyde E. Miles, he preceded her in death on May 20, 2008. She later married Doug O. Cole, he also preceded her in death on August 28, 2014.
Phyllis was the founder and builder of the Shannondale Restaurant which she owned from 1959 until 1968. She sold the restaurant and moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 1970 where she started her own real estate firm named Cole Realty.
Phyllis was formerly a member of Shannondale Zion Lutheran Church. She was also active in many churches in Florida over the years. Her hobbies included traveling and playing golf.
Phyllis is survived by two sons; Scott E. “Cathy” Miles of Limestone, and Sid L. “Debbie Miles of Clarion; two step sons, Doug B. “Dawn” Cole of Knoxville, TN., and Jeffery C. “Sandy” Cole of Dearborn, MI. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Ryan “Nancee” Miles of Clarion, Curt Miles of Clarion, Theron Miles of Clarion, Sheldon Miles of Clarion, Kyla Miles of Clarion, Stephanie Miles of San Antonio, TX., Delacie Miles of Eau Claire, four step grandchildren; Doug “Sarah” Cole, Justin “Lindsay” Cole, Christopher “Angelina” Cole; three great grandchildren; Ryan, Harper, and Calista, and four great step grandchildren. Also surviving is a niece, Mychelle “Randy” DeWoolfson, and three great nieces, Emily, Ashley, and Kinder.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son Steve C. Miles on July 1, 2001, and three sisters; Jean L. Shick, Betty J. Goyette, and Shirley A. Shick.
Friends will be received on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm at the Furlong Funeral Home, Gregory K. Furlong FD, corner of Broad St. and First Ave., Summerville.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm, Saturday November 29, 2014 at the Shannondale Zion Lutheran Church.
Interment will be in the Westview Cemetery, Clover Twp., Jefferson County, PA.
