Phyllis Ruth Fitzgerald

Phyllis Ruth Fitzgerald, 87, passed away Friday November 7 2014 at Allegheny General Hospital.

She was born in Sheffield, to Bernice Work McAfoos.

She was married for 50 years to Evan L. Fitzgerald who preceded her in death March, 2002.

She is survived by her three children, Dawn Marie Fitzgerald of Herndond Va., Wayne Monroe Fitzgerald (Debi) whom she resided with in Clarington, which was her home for 62 years and Martha Sue Holcomb of Birmingham, Alabama. Also surviving are her step-grandchildren, Starr Makoby of Clarington, Marissa (Chris) Nuhfer and their son Bradley of Niagara Falls, NY. She is also survived by two Sister-in-Laws, Margaret McAfoos of Brookville and Martha Fitzgerald of Brookville, and many cousins.

In addition she is survived by her sisters, Joyce Skidmore of Woodstock Va, Leona Atcheson (Jerry) and brother, Dale McAfoos all of Brookville, she was predeceased by her brother William MacAfoos.
Phyllis was a Charter Member of Clarington United Methodist Church where she held the position of Sunday School teacher, and Sunday School Superintendant and Treasurer. She was also an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver.

She was very involved with her neighbors driving them to Dr.’s appointments. She is remembered for her “famous” raisin filled cookies and home made cinnamon rolls.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Clarington United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dale Livermore presiding with interment at the Clarington Cemetery, Clarington, PA

Memorial donations may be made to the Allegheny Heart Institute – 320 East North Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15212, or the Marienville Area Public Library – 106 Pine St. Marienville, PA 16239
