MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (D9sports) – The PIAA released sites and times for the baseball and softball quarterfinal round that will be played Thursday.
District 9 has four teams – two baseball and two softball – in the quarterfinals.
In Class A softball, District 9 champion DuBois Central Catholic will take on District 6 champion Conemaugh Valley at 5 p.m. at Bald Eagle Area High School in Wingate.
Also in softball, District 9 champion Moniteau takes on WPIAL champion Ellwood City at 1 p.m. at Slippery Rock University in Class AA action.
Slippery Rock is also the site of a Class AA baseball game featuring District 9 champion Moniteau and WPIAL champion Riverside with first pitch also set for 1 p.m.
Punxsutawney baseball will play District 3 champion Hamburg at 4 p.m. at Greene Township Park in Scotland, Pa., which is just outside of Chambersburg in the Class AAA bracket.
In one other game of local note, District 10 champion and former District 9 member Rocky Grove will take on WPIAL champion Serra Catholic in a Class A baseball quarterfinal game at 3 p.m. at High Field in Butler.
