Pitt Athletics Unveils Strategic Plan

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh’s Athletic Department unveiled a strategic plan with six major goals to guide the athletic department through the 2020-21 sports season.

“It’s with great pride that we share our strategic vision with all of you in this Plan for Pitt Athletics,” Pitt Director of Athletics Scott Barnes wrote in an open letter on the university’s athletic website. “Our Strategic Plan is a fluid document designed to evolve as the department, the University of Pittsburgh and the landscape of collegiate athletics continue to grow and advance. It’s the product of thorough assessment, detailed analysis and dynamic collaboration between the University community and our own coaches, staff and student-athletes. Our plan is intended to guide us through the next three years with some objectives reaching out as far as 2020-21.”

The six strategic goals include having Pitt’s athletic teams be competitive at both a conference and national level, having a diverse and inclusive student-athletes, coaches and staff, strong academics, better resources, prioritizing the available resources and unifying Pitt Alumni and friends worldwide.
