Pitt Picks up Second Straight Win

PITTSBURGH – Darrian Hall had his second straight 100-yard game on the ground, as Pitt won for the second week in a row thanks to a 31-14 victory over visiting Virginia at Heinz Field Saturday.

Hall ran for 111 yards on 25 carries and started the scoring for the Panthers (4-5, 2-3 ACC) with a 14-yard run.

Meanwhile, Quadree Henderson returned a punt 75 yards for a score, Jester Weah caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from Ben DiNucci, Qadree Ollison ran for a 25-yard score and Alex Kessman kicked a 30-yard field goal for Pitt, which led 21-0 until a late first0half score by Virginia on a 19-yard Kurt Benkert to Hassie Dubois touchdown pass.

Benkert also hit Richard Burney with a 2-yard scoring pass early in the fourth quarter to cut Pitt’s lead to 28-14. Benkert went 22 of 42 for 212 yards, the two scores and an interception.

DiNucci was 10 of 18 for 134 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Pitt is back in action Thursday, Nov. 9, when it hosts North Carolina.
