Pitt’s Zeremenko Tabbed ACC Softball Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Pittsburgh sophomore softball player, Giorgiana Zeremenko was tabbed ACC Player of the Week for her dominating performance in the Panthers first home series of the season over North Carolina, league officials announced Monday.

Zeremenko went yard in all three games of the series and finished the weekend 5-of-9 at the plate, tallying six RBIs.

“We are so proud of Giorgiana [Zeremenko] for her outstanding performance this week, and really the entire year thus far,” head coach Holly Aprile said. “She has had a great approach at the plate and is making adjustments when needed.”

The Canonsburg, Pa., native is off to a hot start this season. She leads the team in nearly every offensive category, including batting average (.492), home runs (9), RBIs (35), total bases (64), slugging percentage (1.085) and on base percentage (.563).

Zeremenko also tops the ACC in numerous categories. She leads the conference in batting average, RBIs, and slugging percentage, and her on base percentage and total bases are second-best. Her nine home runs rank third in the conference, while her .492 batting average ranks 11th in the nation.
