Q&A With Kylee Eaton

D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in?
KE: Softball would definitely be my favorite sport and always has been.

D9: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
KE: Last year at Volleyball districts, we had the morning game against Clarion. During the season we lost and it wasn’t too close of a game. We got there and as a team, we just clicked that day and everything worked to win that game. I can remember when Olivia Boocks went to hit that ball we were going to win. That win guaranteed us into the state playoff which was a huge honor to play in as a sophomore.

D9: Why do you play high school sports?
KE: I play high school sports because I enjoy being an active young adult in the community, You learn so much from sports you could never get out of a classroom. They build you for the future in more ways than one. You share a special bond with your team and there’s just something about it that I like.

D9: Is there a high school player on your team or another team that you enjoy watching play? If so, why?
KE: I enjoy watching all my peers play and grow as athletes and people, I don’t think I could choose just one honestly.

D9: When not playing sports I would rather (pick one) – Go to work, play video games, shop, hang out with friends, play pickup sports, go the movies
KE: When not playing sports I’d rather go to work.

D9: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
KE: If I could go anywhere I would go to Hawaii or actually any island. I love warm weather and the ocean. It’s not too often you’d get to see a tropical place like that so visiting would definitely be one of my goals I have set in life.

D9: Who has had the most influence on you as a person?
KE: My mom has influenced me the most as a person. She’s watched me grow as a person and a player and always makes sure I have what I need to succeed in life. My older brothers Allan and Jeffrey Eaton also have influenced me to be as involved in sports as I am. Their success in high school pushed me to try and succeed just as much if not more.

D9: What do you like most about growing up in your hometown?
KE: I liked growing up in this area, it small not much goes on. I love growing up in a rural area. You can go outside, walk or run anywhere and the only fear you have is if you’re going to run into a bear.

D9: What do you wish you could change about growing up in your hometown?
KE: Living in this small place kind of shelters us, when we do leave we’re shocked. I don’t think this place prepares us for what is actually going to happen when we grow up.

D9: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
KE: When did you know you loved your favorite sport/sports? I think I knew I loved softball when I could wake up at four in the morning to go to an all day tournament and actually be excited to be awake. I could be so tired but still, give all the energy I had left into what we were doing. I think when you play in a travel league for a sport it really gives you perspective of how you feel for a sport due to the huge commitment you are making to that team.
