policeREYNOLDSVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Child endangerment charges have been filed against a Big Run man who was reportedly caught driving under the influence in Reynoldsville Borough with two juvenile passengers.

Court documents indicate the DuBois-based State Police filed criminal charges against 35-year-old Darren James Douglas on September 29.

According to a criminal complaint, around 8:50 p.m. on August 31, DuBois-based State Police observed a vehicle traveling on Main Street in Reynoldsville Borough, Jefferson County, with a headlight out, and a traffic stop was then initiated.

During the traffic stop, an odor of green marijuana was discovered coming from the vehicle, and an open “Zig Zag” cigarillo package was observed in the cupholder, the complaint states.

The complaint notes there were two juvenile passengers in the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Darren James Douglas, was also noted to have bloodshot eyes, according to the complaint.

The complaint states that after the trooper returned from checking the driver’s information in his patrol vehicle, he noticed the cigarillo package was no longer in the cupholder and asked Douglas about it. Douglas then produced the package, and the trooper found two cigarillos filled with green marijuana inside the package.

The trooper asked Douglas if he had smoked marijuana that day, and Douglas reportedly admitted he had smoked, but said it was probably around 24 hours prior, the complaint states.

Douglas was then asked to submit to field sobriety testing.

According to the complaint, during the testing Douglas displayed signs of impairment and was then placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

A lab report received on September 23 showed positive results for amphetamine, methamphetamine, Delta-9 Carboxy THC, and Delta-9 TYC in Douglas’ blood, the complaint states.
