Police Calls: Drug Possession in Punxsutawney

Blue flashing sirens of police car during the roadblock in the cPUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney Borough Police responded to two incidents resulting in drug charges.

On Wednesday February 3, 2016 Punxsutawney Borough Police received a request to respond to the 200 block of West Mahoning Street to assist Jefferson County Adult Probation in apprehending Justin M. Zeruth, of DuBois.

Zeruth had an active warrant issued for his arrest. Subsequently, when Zeruth was taken into custody, it was discovered that he had various drug paraphernalia in his pocket including, pieces of foil, straws, and a smoking pipe.

As a result, a criminal complaint was filed at Magistrate Chambers office charging Zeruth with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Friday February 5, 2016 the Punxsutavmey Borough Police Department received a request to respond to the 200 block of North Jefferson Street for a report of a male smoking marijuana in an apartment. Officers arrived and could smell the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the residence.

Officers spoke with the resident of the apartment whom was identified as Richard J. Brooks and subsequently recovered a marijuana smoking pipe and a small bottle containing mariuana.

As a result of the incident, a criminal complaint was filed against Brooks at Magistrate Chambers office charging Brooks with
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a small amount of Marijuana.
