Police Calls: Theft, Two-Vehicle Crash

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – State police responded to the following calls:

Theft in Barnett Township

PSP Troop C Marienville is investigating a reported theft of a personal check.

The investigation shows a known suspect, reported as a 33-year-old Brookville woman, stole a personal check from the victim and used it at a grocery store in Brookville, Pa.

Police say the Brookville woman bought items and then wrote the check for an amount greater than her total, receiving $50.00 back in cash.

She will be charged with theft and other related charges pending the outcome of the remaining investigation.

The total amount stolen is reported as $63.43.

The victims are listed as a 61-year-old male and a 62-year-old female, of Clarington.

Two-Vehicle Crash in Eldred Twp.

Marienville-based State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Spring Creek Road, in Eldred Township, Jefferson County, that happened around 6:53 a.m. on July 29.

Police say 24-year-old Aaron J. Claassen, of Sigel, and 31-year-old Kyle J. Thrush, of Brookville, were involved in the collision.

A 2020 Jeep Gladiator, driven by Claassen, and a 2007 Freightliner garbage truck, operated by Thrush, were traveling in the eastbound lane on Spring Creek Road.

Police say the Jeep struck the rear portion of the garbage truck causing disabling damage to the Jeep.

Both operators were using seat belts at the time of the crash, and no injuries were reported.

Claassen was charged with a traffic violation.
