Police, Citizens Stop Burglary in Reynoldsville

police-lights-3REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Reynoldsville Borough Police and area residents halted an attempted burglary by a DuBois man.

According to a criminal complaint, Reynoldsville Police Sergeant Cramer investigated an attempted burglary that occurred around 7:58 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, at a property on Broadway Street.

The complaint indicates that Sergeant Cramer spoke with the known male victim who stated that someone had entered his garage and tried to take a 1997 RM 250 Suzuki dirt bike, valued at $1,800.00. Fresh pry marks on the door were observed. The bike, which was strapped to the wall, was moved a few feet.

The victim stated that he believed the person may try again and that he would be watching the garage on Friday night. The victim was instructed to call 911 or Sergeant Cramer’s personal cell phone, the complaint indicates.

Around 1:08 a.m. on Friday, April 21, Cramer was off duty and at home when he received a call from the vicim’s son who stated that someone was in their garage trying to take the bike. When Sergeant Cramer arrived on the scene, he saw Davies sitting on the ground with the victim and other people standing around them, according to the complaint.

Sergeant Cramer handcuffed Davies, put him in the backseat of his patrol car, and took him to the Reynoldsville Police Department. When Davies was read his rights, he agreed to talk. He admitted to entering the victim’s residence twice. Police noted that a crowbar was found at the scene. Davies said he needed extra money and wanted to sell the dirt bike, He said that he entered the victim’s garage but then felt guilty, but as he attempted to leave, the victim was waiting for him outside the garage, the complaint states.

There is a also a warrant for Davies in Clearfield County, according to the complaint.

On Friday, April 21, Davies was arraigned in front of District Judge David Inzana on the following charges:

– Burglary – Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, Person Present, Felony 1 (two counts)
– Criminal Trespass-Enter Structure, Felony 3
– Criminal Attempt – Burglary – Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, Person Present, Felony 1 (two counts)
– Possession Instrument Of Crime W/Intent, Misdemeanor 1 (two counts)
– Criminal Mischief – Damage Property, Summary (two counts)

A preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
