Police: Husband Grabs Steering Wheel, Vehicle Slams into Tree; Wife Makes False Report to Authorities

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Brookville Borough Police released information on a one-vehicle accident that occurred on West Main Street, Brookville, Jefferson County.

According to police, around 11:11 p.m. on August 3, the vehicle crashed into a tree.

Forty-one year-old Amy Jo Clark and 46-year-old Edward Clark, both of Brookville, were transported to Brookville Hospital for treatment.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police say Amy Clark claimed her husband was driving the vehicle and that he tried to kill her and her son by intentionally driving their vehicle into the tree.

She wrote a written statement claiming what happened, according to police.

On August 22, Amy Clark admitted that she was driving the vehicle and that she made a false report against her husband, police say.

According to police, Edward Clark, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was arguing with Amy Clark, and he allegedly punched the windshield, breaking it, and then allegedly grabbed the steering wheel, and the vehicle smashed into a tree on West Main Street.

Amy Jo Clark has been charged with the following offenses:

-Driving at Safe Speed, Summary
-False Report – Falsely Incriminate Another, Misdemeanor 2
-Reckless Driving, Summary
-Disorderly Conduct-Unreasonable Noise, Summary
-Give False Information, Summary
-Careless Driving, Summary

Edward S. Clark has been charged with the following offenses:

-Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
-Disorder Conduct Hazardous/Physical Offense, Misdemeanor 3
