Police Investigating Fire in Punxsutawney; Two People Flown to Pittsburgh Hospital

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 7:28 a.m. on November 9, a fire occurred at a residence on Pine Street, in Punxsutawney Borough, Jefferson County.

According to police, a fire investigation was conducted at a residence located on Pine Street in Punxsutawney by the Pennsylvania State Police – Troop C – Fire Marshal Unit at the request of the Punxsutawney Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

All residents who were home at the time of the fire were able to get out of the house on their own accord; however, Kimberly L. Stormer, 41, owner of the residence, and a 17-year-old male were flown by medical helicopter from Punxsutawney Area Hospital to UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh for injuries suffered as they tried to exit the home, police say.

Destiny D. Kephart, 21, an occupant of the residence, a 13-year-old male, and a 1-year-old male were treated at Punxsutawney Area Hospital and released.
