HENDERSON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police have charged a 31-year-old man who allegedly made multiple threats to kill his estranged wife.

According to court documents, PSP Punxsutawney filed criminal charges against 31-year-old Derick Joseph Agnello, of Kersey, in Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana’s office on Thursday, March 16.

According to a criminal complaint, State Police in Punxsutawney responded to a residence on Pike Road in Henderson Township, Jefferson County, around 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, for a report of harassment by communication between husband and wife.

Officers arrived on the scene and spoke with the victim, who related she separated from her husband, Derick Agnello, on February 24, 2023. She told police she receives over 50 phone calls a day from Agnello, even after telling him to quit contacting her, the complaint states.

An officer inquired what he calls about, and she related Agnello asks to get back together, asks about the kids, and the conversation leads to him screaming at her, the complaint indicates.

According to the complaint, the victim explained Agnello makes threatening statements including: “I’ll come to the house and smash the windows out and burn it down,” as well as “I’ll come over there and you will find out what I will do,” and “I’ll kill you or anyone you talk to.”

After being told by the victim that she was done with the relations, and he needs to accept it, Agnello stated, “I’ll accept it with a knife through your throat,” the complaint notes.

The victim related Agnello only makes threats over the phone. She stated she blocked it, but he calls as a restricted number or uses his work number to get around it, the complaint states.

Agnello faces the following charges:

– Harassment – Communication Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language, Misdemeanor 3
– Harassment – Communication Repeatedly In Anonymous Manner, Misdemeanor 3

He is currently awaiting a preliminary hearing.
