According to police, around 9:44 p.m. on December 19, Craig C. Irwin, 34, and passenger Theresa R. Irwin, 34, both of Punxsutawney, were traveling south on SR 119 in a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck when it crossed over the centerline and traveled into the northbound lane, then traveled across the centerline again into the southbound lane.

Irwin’s vehicle left the road surface off the southbound shoulder and struck an embankment, striking a tree with its passenger side front end.

The impact caused the vehicle to spin in a clockwise direction, ejecting the passenger through the passenger side window.

The vehicle continued traveling south on the embankment and then rolled over and came to a final rest in the northbound lane of travel facing northeast.

The driver was not injured but the passenger sustained moderate injuries that required EMS transport to the Penn Highlands Emergency facility.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.

The driver was charged with a traffic violation.

The above report was released to exploreJeffersonpa.com on December 31, 2014.
