MAHAFFEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say a hit-and-run accident occurred around 5:41 p.m. November 23. on Main Street in Mahaffey Borough, Clearfield County.
According to police, the crash occurred as Mark L. Pearce, 56, of PT Charlotte, Florida, was traveling south on E. Main Street in a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500.
Police say Pearce struck a parked 2013 Hyundai Tucson, which upon impact was pushed into a utility pole.
Police say Pearce fled the scene traveling south.
Shortly after the crash, the Dodge Ram 2500 was located behind the VFW in Mahaffey.
Pearce was then located by police at a residence on E. Main Street.
The Hyundai Tucson sustained heavy rear end damage on the left side and heavy front end damage.
Pearce’s vehicle sustained damage to the right front portion of the vehicle.
According to police, Pearce and his passenger – Laurel M. Welsh, 44, of PT Charlotte, Florida – were both wearing seat belts and were uninjured in the collision.
Pearce was cited with a traffic violation.
PSP Punxsy were assisted at the scene by Mahaffey Fire Department.
