Police Release Details on Punxsutawney Oversize Load Crash

PUNXSUTAWNEY Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney Borough Police say a crash occurred involving an oversized load at the railroad crossing on Hampton Avenue in Punxsutawney Borough, Jefferson County.

Punxsutawney Borough Police say on June 23, a truck owned by W-L Byers of Wampum, Pa. was transporting an oversized load traveling north on Hampton Avenue (S.R. 119) when it struck the railroad crossing arm and its control box causing the arm to break off, and damaging the control box.

According to police, the truck never stopped.

Punxsutawney-based state police stopped the vehicle just outside of Punxsutawney Borough.

No injuries were reported.
