Police Release Details on Theft of Valuable Coins in Summerville

SUMMERVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say a theft of coins occurred on Heathville Road, in Summerville Borough, Jefferson County.

According to police, sometime between midnight on December 15 and 9:30 p.m. on December 16, a known suspect located a Summerville man’s lock box, and after successfully manipulating the lock, the suspect stole approximately 30 different coins.

The stolen coins consisted of Silver Peace dollars; Morgan silver dollars; Ben Franklin half dollars; Kennedy half dollars; and other miscellaneous coins. The known suspect sold the listed coins for cash at a local coin buyer, police say.

The known suspect confessed to this crime, according to police.

The investigation continues.
