Police Release Details on Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 36

BELL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police released the details of a two-vehicle accident that occurred earlier this month on State Route 36 in Bell Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, the collision involved a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 62-year-old Barry Young, of Punxsutawney, and a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by 19-year-old Bretalee Bruce, of Washington.

Police say the accident around 3:25 p.m. on March 10, at the intersection of Route 36 and Old Route 36. The Equinox failed to yield at a stop sign and pulled into the path of the PT Cruiser. The PT Cruiser struck the Equinox, leaving the vehicles resting in opposite directions.

Jefferson County EMS transported Bruce to the Punxsutawney Hospital for suspected minor injuries.

A passenger in Bruce’s vehicle, Casey Hauser, 22, of Washington, was not injured.

Neither occupants was using seat belts.

Young was uninjured. He was using a seat belt.

He was charged with a traffic violation.
