Police Release Information on Debit Card Theft in Brookville; Store Employee Purchases Items with Lost Card

PINE CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say sometime between 4:20 p.m. and 6:55 p.m. on August 16, a debit card theft occurred at Hilltop Superette in Brookville, Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, a known female suspect, who is employed at Hilltop Superette, proceeded to make two purchases on an 18-year-old Brookville man’s debit card that he unknowingly lost.

Police say the debit card was found by a good Samaritan who turned it over to the suspect who was working behind the counter at the Superette.

The recorded and pecuniary loss to the victim totaled $23.42.

Charges are pending.

The investigation continues.
