Police Report Child Endangerment Incident in Punxsutawney

Police car lightsPUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney Police say an incident of endangering the welfare of children occurred in Punxsutawney.

According to police, the incident occurred on September 15 at Frank n’ Steins when a man was allegedly intoxicated and endangering the welfare of an infant.

Witnesses reported to police the man dropped the infant at least two times and then picked the infant up by the neck and head, police say.

It was determined the child would be placed into police protective custody and seen at Punxsutawney Hospital, after which it was released to Jefferson County Children and Youth Services, according to police.

Police say the man, identified as the father of the infant, refused to seek medical treatment for his condition and was released to a friend.
