State Police Respond to Work Zone Crash on I-80

car-accident-graphic-5254_jpg_475x310_q85-300x225PINE CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police report a two-vehicle crash occurred June 24 along eastbound Interstate 80 in Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, the crash occurred around 6 p.m. near mile marker 86.7 when a 2008 Freightliner tractor-trailer approached a 2014 International Harvester from behind.

The driver of the International Harvester was slowing the vehicle due to an upcoming work zone and noticed the tractor-trailer getting closer to his vehicle, and he steered to the right into the south berm, police say.

The right side of the tractor-trailer then struck the left side of the International Harvester, with both vehicles coming to rest along the south berm facing east.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was cited with a traffic violation.
