Police Respond to Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 36

ELDRED TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to Marienville-based State Police, a two-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 36, south of Beers Road, in Eldred Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 68-year-old Donna L. Mensch, of Marienville, and 46-year-old Kristen E. Knost, of Erie, were involved in the collision.

A 2003 Ford Focus, driven by Knost, was in front of a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Mensch, traveling north on SR 36.

Knost slowed to make a left turn, and without signaling, she attempted to turn. At the same time, Mensch – unaware that Knost was turning – attempted to pass her in a No Passing Zone, police say.

The left front of the Ford Focus impacted the right front of the Chevrolet Silverado, according to police.

After impact, the Ford Focus came to rest on the east berm with the front end facing north.

The Chevrolet Silverado came to rest just off SR 36 on Beers Road with the front end facing west.

Both drivers were using seat belts, and neither person was injured.

Both were charged with traffic violations.
