Police Searching for Man Who Led Them on Motor Vehicle Chase in Elk County

ST. MARYS, Pa. (EYT) – Police are searching for a 42-year-old man who led them on a motor vehicle chase in Elk County.

According to the City of St. Marys Police Department Facebook page, an arrest warrant has been issued for 42-year-old Wayne Scott Sailer (also listed as Sailar), of Mercer County.

St. Marys Police Officers attempted to stop Sailer for a vehicle code violation in the City of St. Marys on Thursday, December 20, when he led them on a chase that ended after he abandoned his 2008 Ford pickup and escaped on foot.

Police subsequently discovered arrest warrants for Sailer from Lawrence and Mercer Counties.

Officers searched for Sailer for several hours without locating him, and he has yet to be taken into custody.

Court documents indicate the St. Marys Police Department filed the following charges against Sailer on Friday, December 21:

– Flight to Avoid Apprehension, Misdemeanor 2, filed on August 23, 2018, by the Pulaski Township Police Department in Lawrence County
– Theft By Unlawful Taking, Misdemeanor 3; Trespass By Mot Vehicle, Summary; Driving License Suspended/Revoked Pursuant to Sec 3802/1547B1, Summary; and Driving Unregistered Vehicle filed on June 20, 2018, Shenango Township Police Department.
