Police Seek Information on Hit and Run in Jefferson County

YOUNG TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 6:20 a.m. on May 9, a hit and run accident occurred on Harmony Road (Township Road 310), at its intersection with Crawfordtown Road, in Young Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 48-year-old Philip A. Uplinger, of Reynoldsville, was traveling southbound on Harmony Road. He slowed his Ford F-150 pickup for a deer on the side of the roadway. A Dodge Dual Wheel pickup was traveling behind him and failed to follow at a safe distance.

The Dodge impacted the rear of the Ford. After impact, the Dodge fled the scene towards Punxsutawney Boro, and to an unknown final destination, according to police.

Uplinger was using a seat belt and was not injured.

The Dodge is described as a sandy colored dual wheel pickup truck. It has a flat utility bed with welding equipment mounted on top.
