Police Seek Information on Hit and Run on Route 36

state_policeGASKILL TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say a hit and run accident occurred on State Route 36, 344 feet west of Jackson Run Road, Gaskill Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, an unidentified vehicle was traveling south on SR 36, and for unknown reasons, it traveled off the west side of the road, striking a brick/concrete pillar on the side of a driveway.

Police say the vehicle then struck a mailbox on the other side of the driveway and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The crash occurred sometime between 8:00 p.m. on January 17 and 12:00 p.m. on January 18.

The vehicle should have moderate damage to the right front corner caused by the impact, police say.

Based on physical evidence located at the scene, the vehicle is believed to be a black Volkswagen, possibly a Jetta model, according to police.
