Police Seeking Public's Help in Finding Driver of Hit and Run Crash in Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 11:19 p.m. on February 16, a hit and run accident occurred on Water Street, east of Carrier Street, in Summerville, Jefferson County.

According to police, a silver in color vehicle (possibly Nissan) was traveling north along Water Street in Summerville, and for unknown reasons, it gradually drifted off of the roadway to the western side traveling through a yard for approximately 165 feet where it then struck a fire hydrant with the front end of the vehicle.

Police say the vehicle spun 180 degrees and stopped facing south, then the driver backed up approximately 30 feet and pulled back onto Water Street and traveled south.

The driver fled the scene in the vehicle along Water Street then turned left onto State Street and out of sight, according to witnesses.

The vehicle will have moderate to severe front end damage near the front left corner.
