Police: Semi Truck Driver ‘Carelessly’ Crashes Into Underpass, Flees Scene

CANOE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Charges have been filed against a Punxsutawney semi truck driver for fleeing the scene of an accident earlier this month.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, the crash occurred around 9:32 a.m., on Wednesday, June 15, as a 2005 Mack Truck operated by 35-year-old Corwen Lane, of Punxsutawney, was traveling north on Locust Lane, in Canoe Township, Indiana County.

Police say Lane “carelessly” proceeded under an underpass without proper clearance.

The truck collided with the railroad underpass, pushing the underpass and offsetting the railroad tracks.

Lane fled the scene and failed to report the crash, according to police.

Both Lane and his vehicle were later identified by authorities.

No injuries were reported.

The truck sustained minor damage.

Lane was cited for “Accidents Involving Damage to Unattended Vehicle or Property,” police said.
