Police: Truck Driver Was Using Cellphone When He Crashed into Embankment

BELL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a Jefferson County man was transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital following a crash on Thursday afternoon in Bell Township.

According to police, around 3:39 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, a one-vehicle crash occurred on Cloe Rossiter Road.

Police say a 48-year-old James L. Jordan, of Punxsutawney, was operating a 2011 Peterbilt truck while using his phone and traveled off the side of the roadway. The truck then struck an embankment on the east side of the road.

Jordan was wearing a seatbelt. He suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

The truck sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Weakland’s Towing.

Jordan was cited for a lane violation.
