PINE CREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 10:35 p.m. on June 2, a one-car accident occurred on State Route 322, near Bee Lane, in Pine Creek Township, Jefferson County.
Police say 23-year-old Rachel A. Nicely, of Brookville, was traveling east on SR 322 near Bee Lane. While negotiating a left curve in the roadway, she became distracted while using her hand held cellular telephone.
She was unsuccessful in negotiating the left curve, and as a result, she drove off the south side of the highway in her 1999 Pontiac Grand Am and impacted a utility pole with the front end of the car, according to police.
She was using a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.
Jefferson County EMS transported her to Brookville Hospital.
While speaking with Nicely, police say it was found that she allegedly had been consuming alcohol.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
