State Police Trooper Steele reports the crash occurred around 4:10 p.m. along East Main Street (State Route 119) near its intersection with Pennsylvania Avenue.

Police say a northbound 2014 Volkswagen Jetta operated by Ciera D. Burkett, 20, of Punxsutawney, was unable to slow down enough to prevent making an impact with the right rear of a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse operated by Sherry L. Ziner, 44, of Indiana, Pa.

The impact of the crash caused the Chevrolet Traverse to rest at the point of impact facing north. The Volkswagen Jetta came to an immediate rest after impact also facing north and was later towed from the scene by South Side Towing, police say.

Ziner was wearing a seat belt and was transported from the scene by Jefferson County EMS for treatment of a moderate injury.

A passenger in Ziner’s vehicle, Alisha M. Oakes, 28, of Clymer, was wearing a seat belt, sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene.

Burkett was wearing a seat belt and escaped injury, and was cited with a traffic violation.

Jefferson County EMS, Corporal Dipietro and Trooper Weaver assisted at the scene.

No other information was released.
