According to a criminal complaint, Frank Edward Delarosa, 25, of Brookville attacked a male victim around 12:13 a.m. June 28 along Hunts Alley in Brookville.

The victim told police he was walking along the alley when a man, later identified as Delarosa, arrived on a bicycle and allegedly started punching him in the face, the complaint states.

Police observed the victim had a large black and blue mark under his eye and a small cut bleeding above his eye.

The victim provided police with a description of the alleged attacker and said he was a “total stranger” he’d never met before, the complaint continues.

The victim allegedly had an odor of alcohol on his breath while being questioned by police, the complaint states. He initially refused treatment.

Police contacted the Brookville Fire Department to see about security footage in the area, and were able to obtain video of a bike traveling west along Hunts Alley from Pickering Street. The person was wearing a gray “hoodie” with the hood over their head, very white shoes which stood out, and appeared to have a backpack on, the complaint states.

After police discussed the matter, they determined the individual could have been Delarosa.

Later that day, police spoke with the victim again, who related he’d been to the hospital but had suffered no broken bones. Police noted his eye was still visibly black and blue, the complaint continues.

The victim was able to relate the same details he had provided to police before and reiterated he had no idea why he’d been targeted. When told police had a possible suspect, he seemed relieved.

Police went to Delarosa’s residence and spoke with someone there who related he wasn’t home. The person said Delarosa allegedly came to the house earlier in the day and when asked about the alleged assault said he’d almost forgotten about it but then admitted to “beating the guy up,” the complaint states.

According to online court documents, Delarosa faces the following charges at district court 54-03-03 in Brookville:

– Simple Assault, second-degree misdemeanor
– Harassment by subjecting another to physical contact, second-degree misdemeanor
– Disorderly conduct engaging in fighting, third-degree misdemeanor

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 1:00 p.m. August 6 before District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak.
