Tractor Trailer Driver Falls Asleep at Wheel in Brookville, Crashes into Truck

state_policeBROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police have released information surrounding a December 16 tractor trailer crash in Brookville, Jefferson County.

Police say the accident happened around 9:05 a.m. when 24-year-old Joseph Ritchie fell asleep while traveling east on Interstate 80 near mile marker 79.

The rear of Ritchie’s 2012 International struck the rear of a 2012 Mack truck operated by 59-year-old Richard Harris.

Both drivers escaped injury.

Brookville Volunteer Fire Company assisted at the scene.
