Man in Custody Following High-Speed Pursuit in Chest Township

CHEST TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police say a man was taken into custody following a high-speed pursuit in Chest Township on Saturday evening.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, authorities attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Charles Vaugh Strohmeyer on State Route 36 approximately one mile south of Newburg Borough in Chest Township, Clearfield County.

Police say Strohmeyer failed to yield, and a pursuit was initiated.

After approximately ten miles of a high-speed pursuit, the vehicle was stopped, and Strohmeyer was taken into custody off of Barrens Road in Chest Township.

Strohmeyer was taken to the Clearfield County Jail to await arraignment.
