Three Vehicle Crash on Route 36, Gaskill Township

State PoliceGASKILL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say a three-vehicle crash occurred on State Route 36, in Gaskill Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, 24-year-old Jacob R. Moyer, of Westover; 65-year-old Lawrence J. Smiley, of Falls Creek; and 21-year-old Collin L. Burke, of Sarver, were involved in the collision.

Police say his three vehicle crash occurred around 10:00 a.m. on December 3 as an Oldsmobile Alero was traveling north on Route 36 when Moyer failed to keep his car in the northbound lane of travel and let it drift into the southbound lane.

The Oldsmobile struck a 2006 Ford F-350 pickup, driven by Smiley in the southbound lane causing the pickup to travel off the west side of the roadway and strike an electric utility pole off the west side of the roadway where it came to a final rest facing south.

The Oldsmobile continued northbound in the southbound lane and sideswiped a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by Burke.

The Oldsmobile came to a final rest off the east side of the roadway facing to the north, and the Volkswagen came to a final rest in the southbound lane facing south.

There were no injuries reported.

All drivers were using seat belts.

The Ford F-350 pickup was disabled as a result of the crash and was towed by South Side Towing.

The Oldsmobile and the Volkswagen sustained minor damages as a result of the crash.

Moyer was charged with a traffic violation.
