PINECREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police are investigating a case of Theft by Deception in the Brookville area.
Police say the crime occurred on November 11 when a 89-year-old Brookville woman was telephoned by an individual claiming to be her grandson.
The called, still claiming to be her grandson, said he was involved in a DUI crash and needed money to avoid being sued.
Police say the victim sent a total $2,270 on two separate occasions via Western Union.
The incident remains under investigation.
